Reviews

"Loudmouth loose cannon Cunningham is the show’s scene-stealing role and Ben-Shmuel does it goofy justice."

Hap Erstein, Palm Beach Arts Paper

"Price’s unwelcome partner, Elder Arnold Cunningham, was played by stand-by Jacob Ben-Shmuel on Wednesday night. He brought a sweetness and unerring comic sense to the part of the chronic outcast."

- Jan Sjostrom, Palm Beach Daily News

"Still there could be no Parade (indeed I doubt UCI would have even dared program it) were it not for the absolutely brilliant Ben-Shmuel, whose Act One fearlessness in making Leo as arrogant and patronizing as any Northerner could get in Deep South Georgia make his second act transformation into a vulnerable, frightened, loving human being all the more heartrending. In both vocal and acting chops, Ben-Shmuel gives any Broadway star a run for his money."

- Steven Stanley, StageSceneLA

"The cast is nearly flawless. Special mention goes to Jacob Ben-Shmuel...{who} has the daunting task of taking a lead character that is expressly written to be fairly unlikable and turning in a nuanced and moving performance."

- Mike Martin, Orange Curtain Review

"As for Sancho Panza, it’s hard to imagine a more delightful Quijote sidekick than Jacob Ben-Shmuel, who plays the windmill-battler’s right-hand man with a pixyish scruffiness and infectious charm, his “I Like Him” and “A Little Gossip” hitting the vocal-comedic bulls-eye again and again."
